Hi all,
Just new to the list so I thought I'd say g'day.

We are not in Bribie (yet!) but we're working on it. We are in Jindalee (Brisbane) running our own electronic repairs business.

My wife spend many school holidays at Bribie during her childhood and we were there for a look yesterday (Sat 10Jan09).

Well, that did it. We're hooked and want to move to Bribie within 12 months.

We would like to move sooner but we have a special needs daughter in her last formal year of schooling.

We have a bit of research to do yet, both regarding special needs facilities and if there is sufficient demand for an electronics repairer on the Island ;)

Hope to chat with you all later and/or catch up in person during one of the many planned visits through the year.

Cheers, John

Hi John,

All the best with the move.

I no longer live on Bribie Island.

It is great place to live though. Very relaxing.

The population is rather small though, and not sure about the demand for a electrical. There is a guy there already I think that works out of his van doing various elect repair work I think.

You never know until you give it a go though.

So true Shane. You make your own progress and success in this life.

I was musing why there are so few posts here, you guys are too laid back to worry about the rest of the world :D

We hope to get back to the Island in a week or 2 for more sight seeing/planning etc

Take care & enjoy

Hi John,

I think the reason that this forum has not been more successful, is due to the fact that the a good percentage of the population is made up of retires.

Retires are not generally that computer literate. Maybe in 10 years when the next wave hits the site will be a booming success. :)

Maybe you will take some photos on you next visit and add them to the photo gallery where you can add photos under your name.

Cheers

Shane

Hi Shane,
You may be right there. I have to be careful about putting an age on being a retiree, fast approaching the five oh here ;)

I'll make a mental note on a piece of paper to get fresh batteries, and to actually TAKE the camera next trip :o

Cheers

Hi John,

Just moved to the Island myself (from NZ) and noticed today there is a Special Ed school in Caboolture. I notice these things as I have a disabled son of 20. He is very lonely, so I'm hoping for a friend or two for him around here. His problem is inability to read and write, and the little contact he had via Xbox live is on hold (in a container which they sent to Melbourne by mistake). Grrr

Hi De Kat,
Congratulations on the move, hopefully it won't be too long until your container arrives.

Our daughter is nearly 17 and is non-verbal (Rett syndrome). She is quite the social butterfly though ;) She has a fantastic teacher at her current school, otherwise we would probably have moved already :)

We hope to be in Bribie this Saturday for a spot of fishing and another look around. We'll see how the schedule goes :D

All the best with getting settled. Take care & enjoy.

Cheers, JohnK
