Hi there,
just to let everyone know that we are coming to live on Bribie all the way from Vienna, Austria.

I spend 6 months on Bribie for 5 years and have been home sick ever since.
With my new husband Thomas and 2 children Ryan and Georgina we have now the chance of a new live on this beautiful Island. I hope to hear from you soon.

Regard Michaela and Thomas ;)

Hi Andi,
At first we are looking to rent on the Island. The first thing is finding a job. My husband is carpenter and we are hopeing there is a job for him in the area.

Great move Michaela. Can't wait to move up there myself.
Had a property for a few years now but I am still stuck with my job further South.
The food was pretty plain on the Island 5 years ago but has picked up significantly since then. My favorites are the coffee club, the golf club and blue anchor. The two last ones really improved lately.

If you get homesick there is a German restaurant with fantastic views and good selection of beer, up in the mountains;

Still trying to figure out where to buy some decent wursts.
Let me know if you find out of any good German/Austrian deli. (Although I did see one near Southbank in Brisbane but I forgot where it was.)

cheers
Micki.

PS, I am guessing you have arrived in Bribie now. Any interesting update of the first impressions/feelings?

:(Well I am very sad to say, we did not get the visa sorted. Because we were all set for moveing away and had sold almost everything ( cars etc) we have now come to New Zealand, Christchurch. It is absolutly not where we want to be but for the time being it will have to do. I dont know how long it is going to take to sort out the visas but in the mean time we have found jobs here and have applied for a work visas. Hopefully some time soon we will end up where we want to be BRIBIE but in the mean time take care and I will keep looking in.

Regards Michi

That must be sooooo disappointing.
And Christchuch is cold too, so hope you didn't get rid of all you jumpers.
But don't give up. Hopefully it is just for a short time. And since you are there, take the opportunity to experience NZ. Once you are in OZ you might not have time to get back to NZ again.
All the best
..Micki

What happened Michaela?
Did you get stuck in NZ or did you manage to move to Oz?
I am still stuck in Melbourne but will be heading up to Bribie with the family for a holiday over Christmas/New Year again.
I got a job waiting for me when I move there but the pay isn't too exciting so I can't afford going unless I get retrenched from current job.
I suppose with the current economical climate one has to be happy to have a steady job.
Anyway have a merry christmas and good luck with everything.

Hi you! great to hear from you. Yes we are still in New Zealand. We have a little fram now with 5 calves, 2 sheep, 2 lambs and some chicken coming at the weekend. Thomas and I both have a job him as builder and me as 2nd chef in a super cafe here in Methven. The people are all super friendly here and we have very quickly made good friends. I am still very disappointed about not being able to get a visa for Oz. I need some credit information from the Uk that we have paid off the morgage from 9 years ago but i can not get this information so that mean I can not get the visa. It feels very hopeless anyway thanks for writing and merry xmas to you and your family.
